Christmas decorations suggestions

Where does you Christmas decorations comes from this year?
The answer is probably China .
Up to the UN climate change conference here in December , there are a lot of focus on China and Her environmental load.

I don't think it is 100% fair , since China produce a lot of the stuff we consumers are using here in the west , including Christmas decorations.

If you want to do something for the environment this year. Perhaps you should think where and what you buy as Christmas decoration .

Perhaps you should stop by your local arts craftsman and pick up some Ceramics or glass or wood or other locally hand made decoration .

This is good for the environment , a local stimulus , enhance creativity , you get something your friends don't have and in 100 years your grandchildren has an antiquity.

Cimate Aid , just another dead Aid-

In connection with United Nations climate change conference in Copenhagen next month.
It seems to be the tendency to make a deal .So called rich countries will pay for the so called poor countries environmental precautions.

To help other countries overcome the difficulties they are facing because of (one way or another) global climate changes and cut the countries pollution, is a very noble cause . However I question the methods and the impact such a deal will bring.

I can only see such a deal as yet another government founded aide project , and where has 40 years of aide projects brought us up till now? Let face it “Aid is dead!

A donor /receiver relation is simply not a dignifying way to treat our fellow human beings.
What we need is to make private investment into the private sector of other countries and regard these countries as equal business partners .

This will make the so-called poor countries able to independently create their own measure against climate changes including reduction in pollution.

A paradox is the EU enforced tough protection of Her agricultural production . In many cases of agricultural products that could be produced much more in-line with the environment in E.G. some African countries. The capital surplus this protected agriculture productions gives EU , will then be redirected as climate aid donations to the poor “poor countries”

It is all so artificial...

Who is China's investments benefiting?

It is almost to good to be true , when China will invest/loan 10B USD in Africa . However It is strange when almost as many people in China live under almost the same living conditions as in Africa . This lead me to question China's true motive.

First of all , I don't like the Term "Africa" The situation is very different from country to country , I don't think the same thing will work in Cape Verde that work's in RSA or will anything at all work in DRC right now. Let us in future discus which countries in Africa that needs what kind of investments.

To my knowledge China's investment are hardcore , or capitalism at worse . Further 10B is not a lot and peanuts compared what has been wasted by the west in Iraq and Afghanistan , but enough to pay-off a government. If this is the goal then it is very convenient with "no-strings-attached investments"

I need to see a catalogue for China investment project and the benefit . For now I sit with a funny feeling , E.g , is China's investments in Sudan good? is it helping the Arabs, is it helping the Africans in Sudan? Or is it primary benefiting the Chinese?
